The Buckeyes will host the Rockets on Sept.17, 2022, according to an OSU press release Thursday. Toledo, of the Mid-American Conference, fills the void left a couple of weeks ago when it was announced a previously scheduled home-and-home slate with Texas was moved from 2022-2023 to 2025-26. Thus far the Buckeyes’ non-conference opponents for 2022 include a home game with Notre Dame on Sept.3 and the Toledo match. Texas, which played at Ohio State for the first time in 2005 and hosted OSU in 2006, opted to push back the renewal of the series so it could schedule and home-and-home with Alabama. tmay@dispatch.com @TIM_MAYsports
