COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football had a record nine captains in 2017, but only two of those players are back for the 2018 season. Of those players, only wide receivers Parris Campbell and Terry McLaurin still remain on the roster. The other seven players are either out of eligibility or off to the NFL, leaving a void that Ohio State coach Urban Meyer lamented about during spring practice when asked about his team’s leadership. “It’s average right now,” Meyer said on April 2. “When you lose that many quality guys like you said, all those fifth-year seniors, guys that invested so much… [but] I see promise. I see there is some very good promise. But it’s day-to-day.
