At Ohio State, football is important. But under head coach Urban Meyer, academics is equally as important. The Buckeyes continued to demonstrate this fact on Monday when an eight-year high 40 members of the football team were named OSU Scholar-Athletes. These football players will join a record number of 692 student-athletes to be honored for their academic achievements Monday evening during the department’s 51st annual scholar-athlete banquet at the Archie M. Griffin Ballroom at the Ohio Union. In order to receive this honor, an athlete must have a 3.00 or better grade point average for the year.
