In the first 13 games of his college football career, Ohio State’s freshman running back averaged between 4.3 and 13.2 yards per carry and gained between 51 and 181 yards. Perhaps glossed over in the Buckeyes’ season-ending 24-7 Cotton Bowl win over USC a month ago was the fact that Ohio State struggled running it against the Trojans, held to 163 rushing yards on 38 carries. Take away three plays from H-back Parris Campbell, and the core ground game of J.T. Barrett, Dobbins and Mike Weber averaged 3.5 yards. Dobbins was held to 39 yards on 13 carries, with no run longer than 7 yards. That came after he ranked among the top-10 runners in the nation in gains of 20 yards or more, with 16 on the year.
