COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football opens the 2017 season on Aug. 31 at Indiana. We’re counting down the top 50 Buckeyes for this season, taking into account talent, past accomplishments, team need and potential. No. 18: Damon Arnette, Redshirt Sophomore, Cornerback Height, weight: 6-foot, 195 pounds. Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Where he was ranked entering last season: The fourth cornerback last year behind Gareon Conley, Marshon Lattimore and Denzel Ward, Arnette was No. 37 on our preseason list. What he’s done: As a redshirt freshman, Arnette played in all 13 games. He saw action as the nickel cornerback in the first half of the season before the Buckeyes realized they were being burned on too many passing downs. Conley moved to nickel corner over the slot receiver in those situations, Arnette’s playing time went down and the pass defense improved.
