Two top recruiters Ohio State has the nation’s No. 1 class for 2018, so it’s no surprise that ESPN thinks highly of the assistants landing those players. Tom VanHaaren’s first ranking of the best recruiters among assistant coaches had two Buckeyes in the top three spots, including Greg Schiano at No. 1. Schiano’s work in the New York City area, where he landed top-60 players Matthew Jones and Jeremy Ruckert, played a big role in him landing the top spot. Running backs coach Tony Alford was listed third, with 5-star running back Jaelen Gill being his top recruit.
