Every year in college football, a team faces an opponent that in most peoples’ minds should be an easy win. One team clearly has better players and more talent than the other team. This can lead to a lack of preparation and a carelessness by the ‘superior’ team. This attitude sometimes results in a shocking defeat and a damaging blow to a team’s chance to make the College Football Playoff, as was what happened with Michigan’s 14-13 loss to Iowa a year ago. This is what is known as a trap game. Ohio State is no stranger to the trap game, as their 35-21 home opener loss to Virginia Tech in 2014 nearly kept them out of the College Football Playoff. If the Buckeyes wish to return to the playoffs for the third time in four years, they will have to survive a few potential trap games in the 2017 season.…
