Strength of Big Ten prepares Buckeyes for Clemson

COLUMBUS, Ohio — For years, the Big Ten had been viewed by the college football world as a shell of what it once was. The SEC was amid its seven-year title streak, and you didn’t have to look far to find criticism of other conferences, especially the Big Ten. Ohio State’s title in 2014 hushed some of the noise but detractors persist. This year, though, as the Buckeyes prepare for their return to the College Football Playoff for the second time in its third year of existence, the team is grateful to play in the conference it does.
