Longtime Ohio State assistant and former Buckeye defensive lineman Luke Fickell is set to leave the school for his first full-time head coaching job, according to an ESPN report. The report states that Cincinnati is hiring Fickell to be its next head coach, and an announcement is expected to come down sometime on Saturday. Fickell has been an assistant in Columbus since 2002 and has been a coordinator or co-coordinator since 2005. He also spent the 2011 season as Ohio State’s head coach after Jim Tressel resigned amid the “Tattoogate” scandal. The OSU assistant is set to replace Tommy Tuberville, who resigned after the Bearcats went 4-8 this season. According to ESPN’s report, Fickell first interviewed with Cincinnati’s athletic director Mike Bohn on Thursday.
