Ohio State football: Luke Fickell accepts job as Cincinnati's new football coach

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Luke Fickell viewed his situation at Ohio State as a blessing and a curse.  Of course Fickell loves Ohio State, reveled in the role of being the defensive coordinator and enjoyed being the highest-paid assistant on Urban Meyer’s staff. But it also made it harder for him to pursue head coaching opportunities because things were so great at Ohio State.  Fickell finally got the opportunity he’s been waiting for.  A Buckeyes assistant since 2002, Fickell has begun a new chapter in his coaching career by accepting the head coaching position at Cincinnati. ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported on Saturday morning that the two sides agreed to a deal late Friday night.
