Three games into the season, it’s looking like not much has changed in the college football world. Alabama is Alabama. We all know that. But after its dominant 45-24 win at Oklahoma late into the night Sept. 17, it’s become clear this is also true: Ohio State is Ohio State. Nick Saban, 64, continues to hit the right buttons in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Urban Meyer is doing the same at Ohio State. Advertisement At Alabama, the string of success is staggering. Since 2008, Saban’s second season at Alabama, the Crimson Tide is 101-12 with four national championships. Meyer, 52, is 53-4 at Ohio State since 2012, and won a national championship in 2014. Despite losing its starting quarterback, Jay Coker, and running back, Heisman winner Derrick Henry, to graduation, Alabama still returned a boatload of starters in 2016. The expectations for the Tide was simple: Expect them to be great again. For the Buckeyes, many expected them to be great again, but with so much turnover in 2016, the logical approach judging this group would have been the wait-and-see approach.
