9:00 AM ET COLUMBUS, Ohio — The former soccer player arrived on campus the day his team won the national championship and Urban Meyer didn’t really have much reason to bother learning his name for more than a year after that. Finally, a thumping punt on the first day of Ohio State’s training camp in August caught Meyer’s eye — and earned Tyler Durbin an introduction. Famously opposed to either punting the football away or settling for a field goal, Meyer may or may not have made it a point to remember the name that day. One month later, Meyer continues to act like he doesn’t know it and still maintains that he isn’t exactly sure where the walk-on came from, but now that all comes with a smile since Durbin has unexpectedly become the starting kicker for the No. 4 Buckeyes. “Kicker: I think you spell that kicker, K-I-C-K-E-R,” Meyer joked. “I love this guy, but I’m still giving him a hard time.
