Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports After losing 16 starters from last season, Ohio State football will not only be looking to players from their top ranked 2016 recruiting class to step up and fill the open positions, but also to their returning players. Redshirt freshman wide receiver Torrance Gibson is, or was, no exception. Unfortunately for Gibson, Ohio State announced Monday morning that he will not be able to play for the 2016 season due to violating guidelines in the university’s student code of conduct. The suspension was not handed down by the football team or the athletics department, but rather by members of the university’s staff. Head coach Urban Meyer made clear in his press conference on Monday that he did not agree with the suspension. Despite the coaching staff’s disagreement with the decision, losing Gibson for the year is a tough pill to swallow.
