Ohio State Football: Buckeyes suspend WR Torrance Gibson

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 29 (UPI) — Florida product Torrance Gibson was a highly touted quarterback recruit making the move to wide receiver for the Ohio State football program. Now he’s nowhere near the team after being suspended for the season by the school. The Columbus Dispatch reported that Gibson has been suspended for the fall semester for the “unspecified violation.” Coach Urban Meyer says he doesn’t agree with the suspension, dealt for violating the school’s student code of conduct. “It was not from the athletic department or football,” Meyer told reporters Monday. “I disagree with it.”

Gibson was also suspended for a game last year. He scored twice in the Buckeyes’ spring game after suffering a hamstring injury during the offseason. Last month, Meyer touted Gibson athletically and academically. “I love Torrance Gibson,” Meyer said, via Cleveland.com. “I love his talent. I love the fact he did well academically. I think his future, I use this comment sometimes, I don’t see a ceiling. “I would love to use him as a quarterback-slash, because he’s that good of an athlete.” The Buckeyes begin its season Sept. 3 against Bowling Green.
