OSU, UM in top 10 of AP preseason poll

One of college football’s top rivalries is back to a familiar location: both Ohio State and Michigan will start this season inside the top 10. For the first time since 2005, both the Buckeyes and Wolverines will start the season among the first 10 listed in the Associated Press preseason top 25 poll, which was released Sunday. Ohio State came in at No. 6, while Michigan will start at No. 7. Both teams received one first-place vote. Defending national champion Alabama will start at No. 1, followed by Clemson, which lost to the Tide in last year’s national title game. Oklahoma — which the Buckeyes will play in Week 3 — is No. 3, followed by Florida State and Louisiana State. Rounding out the top 10 is Stanford in eighth place, Tennessee at No. 9, and Notre Dame at No. 10. Two other Big Ten teams are in the top 25 — defending champion Michigan State is 12th, while defending West Division champ Iowa is 17th.
