The USA Today coaches poll is already out, the Associated Press poll will be released Sunday, and the 2016 FWAA/National Football Foundation Super 16 – which counts yours truly among its voters – comes your way Thursday. They will probably be similar to each other, similar to preseason college football magazines, and similarly crumpled up and used for a rousing game of Trash Can H-O-R-S-E before the leaves change colors. Sure, many teams who start near the top finish there. Prognostications aren’t completely pulled out of thin air. But oftentimes, teams with sexy summer reputations are exposed when the games are live, falling in the polls and frequently completely out of the rankings. In 2015, Auburn started No. 6.
