It’s a position that may not get as much fanfare in football today as it did before, but it’s still paramount for success on defense. This group is going to be relied on to make plays. His 119 tackles in 2015 was fourth in the Big Ten, and he was a Butkus Award finalist. He has innate ability to find the ball, and his closing speed on making tackles is impeccable. On a defense that is only returning three starters, his knowledge of the scheme sets the tone.
