COLUMBUS — Even on a team hit particularly hard by turnover, wide receiver stands out as a wide-open position for Ohio State. From last season until now, 75 percent of Ohio State’s catches at receiver and H-back departed the roster. Among them were the top three receivers from last season: Michael Thomas, Braxton Miller, and Jalin Marshall, who accounted for 117 catches and nearly 1,600 yards between them before earning spots on NFL rosters. The battle to replace them is perhaps the most open race on the Buckeyes’ roster. Including running backs and the ever-moving Curtis Samuel, the Buckeyes have more than a dozen players in the running to catch passes from quarterback J.T. Barrett this season. As confusing as it can be to keep track of all the receivers who could factor into Ohio State’s offense this season, the Buckeyes have perhaps the most uniquely qualified head coach to untangle the mess.
