Ohio State crushes, Tennessee disappoints with 2016 NFL Draft picks

Ohio State set a new NFL record with 10 players drafted in the first three rounds in 2016, and the Buckeyes continued their run on Saturday with Cardale Jones’ selection in the fourth round leading the team’s day three picks. This group, which won a national title and fell one pick short of tying Miami’s record for first-round draft picks, goes out on top with more selections than any other school in the 2016 NFL Draft. The 12 picks falls two short of the NFL record, held by the 2004 Ohio State draft class (14), but the 2016 group still will be one to remember in terms of draft history. While the Buckeyes shined, the Vols faltered. Tennessee did not have a player picked for the second straight year, an anomaly in the program’s history given it’s run of draft picks from 1964-2014. Tennessee had no players drafted in NFL for 2nd straight year. Before that, Vols had a pick every year since 1964. — Jon Solomon (@JonSolomonCBS) April 30, 2016 Here’s the full count of draft picks by school below: 12: Ohio State 9: Clemson 8: UCLA 7: Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame 6: Baylor 5: Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Stanford, TCU, West Virginia 4: California, Nebraska, Oklahoma, USC 3: Auburn, Boise State, Houston, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana Tech, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, NC State, South Carolina, Temple, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Western Kentucky 2: Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College Cincinnati, Colorado State, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, Minnesota, North Dakota State, Northwestern, Oregon, San Jose State, South Carolina State, Southern Miss, Southern Utah, Utah State, Virginia Tech, Washington, Western Michigan, Wisconsin 1: Akron, Appalachian State, BYU, Central Arkansas, Central Michigan, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Southern, Grand Valley State, Harvard, Iowa, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Louisiana Monroe, Maine, UMass, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Midwestern State, Montana, Montana State, Navy, North Carolina Central, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Pittsburgh, Princeton, Purdue, Rutgers, Sam Houston State, Samford, Southeastern Louisiana, Syracuse, Texas, UTSA, Utah, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Washington State, West Alabama, William & Mary Eli Apple was one of Ohio State’s three top-10 picks.
