The Ohio State men’s basketball team will host Akron in the National Invitational Tournament on Tuesday. The Buckeyes, by virtue of their 20-13 record, earned a three seed. The 26-8 Zips are a six seed. OSU won the NIT in 1986 and 2008, and they are 18-7 all-time in the event. They are also 6-1 all-time against Akron. “We are excited about the opportunity to continue our season and appreciate the NIT committee for selecting Ohio State,” Buckeye coach Thad Matta said in a press release. “We have a young team who will surely benefit from the additional practice and competition. We need our fans to come out and support this team Tuesday at Value City Arena.” Tip time on Tuesday is 7 p.m., and the game will, of course, air on 97.1 The Fan.
