The Michigan State Spartans get their first taste of Big Ten Tournament action this evening when they take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the quarterfinals. The Spartans are a lock to make the NCAA Tournament, so there’s certainly no pressure there, but they are trying to improve their stock from a No. 2 seed projection to a No. 1 seed. The Ohio State Buckeyes, for their part, will be fighting to make the field of 68. They enter play on Friday in a similar position to the Michigan Wolverines, who look to be sitting on the back side of the proverbial bubble. Both sides need another signature win added to their resumes if they hope to present a compelling at-large case to the selection committee.
