Ohio governor and presidential candidate John Kasich is a distant fourth in the competition to gain the Republican nomination, but he picked up a big endorsement Thursday. After all, he has the back-tracking part down — last month he told the Toledo Blade that he did not think it was “appropriate” to share his political beliefs as a football coach. “No, my job description is very clear and that’s to coach Ohio State football and the focus is on 17 to 18 to 22-year-olds,” Meyer said at the time. “I have strong beliefs, but I’m not going to share that with you guys. I don’t think that’s appropriate.” On Thursday, that changed. “We’re very proud of you and Karen and your family, and look forward to this,” said Meyer in a video featuring him and Kasich casually talking.
