Ohio State in ‘survival’ mode as historic Buckeyes pro day approaches

Urban Meyer should have caught himself. “It’s going to be good news around here in two years,” Ohio State’s coach said this week. “It’s just survival right now.” Survival. What in the name of Wayne Woodrow Hayes? If there’s anyone who shouldn’t be complaining right now, it’s Ohio State and Meyer. The man has lost four times in his four seasons with the Buckeyes, once in the last 26 games. Only Nick Saban (arguably) is recruiting more successfully. While Saban has ascended back to the top of their back-and-forth “Who’s better?” Amazing (Coaching) Race, Meyer could top him in another category this spring. Meyer could be the proud papa of the biggest draft class in history. Ohio State currently holds the record — 14 players total in the 2004 NFL Draft.
