The Ohio governor announced Meyer’s support in a nearly two-minute video posted to the candidate’s YouTube channel featuring a conversation between the state’s two high-ranking public figures. In the video, Meyer recounts meeting Kasich’s family and researching a candidate to support. “We’re very proud of Karen and your family and look forward to this,” Meyer said. “I’m trying to raise the bar in the presidential campaign, make sure kids are proud. I think you’re raising the bar at Ohio State,” Kasich said, comparing the current head coach to legendary Buckeyes coach Woody Hayes. Meyer’s endorsement — wisely, perhaps — comes two days after the primary in Michigan, home to Ohio State’s most bitter rival. Former Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel will appear at two Kasich campaign events in the days leading up to Ohio’s primary.
