Penn State Football Early Position Preview 2016: Offensive Line by Marty Leap For the first time in program history, the Penn State Men’s Basketball Team has earned a first-round bye in the Big Ten Tournament. The 10th-seeded Nittany Lions (16-15) will play their first game in the tournament at 6:30pm on Thursday when they do battle with the seventh-seeded Ohio State Buckeye (19-12). The game will be shown to a national audience on ESPN2 Barring an unforeseen run to the Big Ten Championship in this weekend’s tournament, the Nittany Lions will not make the NCAA Tournament. However, Penn State has been playing some pretty solid basketball lately. The Nittany Lions are 5-3 in their last 8 games, and this includes a pair of victories over ranked opponents (Iowa and Indiana) at home. The Buckeyes enter the Big Ten Tournament squarely on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament. If the Buckeyes can win a few games in Indianapolis this weekend they might be able to punch their ticket to the dance, so Thad Matta’s team will have plenty to play for. This is the second meeting of the season between the Nittany Lions and the Buckeyes. Back on January 25, the Nittany Lions went into Columbus and were blown out by a score of 66-46. Hopefully, Pat Chambers and company have learned from that game and can improve on what did not go well in the first matchup. All year long, Penn State’s best player has been senior Brandon Taylor. Taylor is averaging a team-high 16.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Shep Garner (14.5 points, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and 35.1 minutes per game) and Payton Banks (9.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game) have been key contributors for the Nittany Lions as well…
