But Gov. John Kasich, at the back of the pack among the four Republican still in the race, rode a post-debate surge to a strong finish in Michigan, with hopes of continuing that momentum into next week’s Ohio primary. Kasich must win his home state to remain in contention for the GOP nomination, with the prospect of a contested convention looming larger if no candidate secures the 1,200-plus delegates required to win outright.
