J.K. Dobbins was likely to be the object of a recruiting war deep in the heart of Texas this year, but the speedy running back pulled a fast one: He committed to Ohio State. ‘After much consideration and thought I want to announce that I’ve committed to The Ohio State,’ Dobbins tweeted, becoming the 13th member of the 2017 class. >> Keep up with  BuckeyeXtra  on  Facebook  and  Twitter From small LaGrange, halfway between Houston and Austin, the 5-foot-10, 200-pound Dobbins had offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma, Houston and many other schools across the nation, including Notre Dame and Stanford. Dobbins, the No. 4 all-purpose back nationally according to 247sports.com, is a running back foremost (2,741 yards rushing, 35 touchdowns in 2015), Kates said. ‘If there is a better back in the nation, I’d like to see him,’ Kates said. ‘I know I’m partial to this young man, but he really does things that no one else in the nation can, I believe.’ tmay@dispatch.com @TIM_MAYsports
