Buckeyes defensive lineman Joey Bosa said the pressure and high expectations became a mental drain on the team until its 23-game winning streak was snapped Nov. 21 by Michigan State. It wasn’t just the national discussion, but even the talk among the Ohio State fan base was something players noticed, according to Bosa, who attended the Rotary Lombardi Award ceremony Wednesday as a finalist for the second consecutive year. That was definitely a struggle for us, because you never feel like you’re good enough. It’s hard when your own fan base is getting after you for being, what, 10-0? And they still weren’t happy.
