Where the Bowl Selections Went Wrong

Created on Dec. 09, 2015 10:47 AM EST Let me start by congratulating the Houston Cougars for their incredible season. An injury that held out Greg Ward Jr. against UConn likely was the difference between the way their season went and an undefeated run. Either way, they’d be the Group of 5 representative. The Cougars were chosen by the Peach Bowl to play the Florida State Seminoles on December 31, which will be a great opportunity for Houston to prove themselves against a team stacked with talent. But was that the right decision? Easy answer: no. Not even close. There was a rumor that the matchup I would have liked to see would happen in the Fiesta Bowl, where Ohio State and Notre Dame would face off. Houston’s great season can be largely pointed to first-year head coach Tom Herman. For those that aren’t aware, Herman found himself coaching in big games last year en route to a National Championship in the first ever College Football Playoff…
