Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott has apologized for inflammatory statements regarding the Buckeyes’ play-calling in its 17-14 loss to Michigan State on Saturday. “Zeke is a very honest guy”. “I’m not saying that (what Elliott said) is not true, I’m just saying that’s not the forum to have those conversations”. The 6-0, 225-pound Elliott ran for 1,878 yards en route to winning the MVP in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game a year ago and entered the Michigan State game with 15 straight 100 yard games, which was snapped vs. Michigan State, and 1,425 yards, trailing only Leonard Fournette and Derrick Henry. Elliott also said after the game that he’s turning pro after this season, which was expected anyway. Elliott, who spent time in the hospital last week with a leg infection, had only 33 yards rushing on 12 carries and No. 1 receiver Michael Thomas had two catches for eight yards. But he didn’t show any ill effects and said he felt perfectly fine at game time. Add in that it was probably Elliott’s last home game and you can understand that’s not the way he wanted to go out. Past year the Ohio State Buckeyes led by head coach Urban Meyer won the college football National Championship. The dust settles from the damage week 12 caused to some major contenders, as we’re left with just two undefeated teams: Iowa in the Big Ten and Clemson in the ACC, while Ohio State, Oklahoma State and Houston lose for the first time this season, and as a result the rankings will be shaken up quite thoroughly. …
