One DB out as another is back in this week for Ohio State

Urban Meyer had good news and bad regarding the Ohio State defensive backfield during the Big Ten coaches teleconference on Tuesday.  Damon Webb has returned to practice with the Buckeyes after missing six games because of a suspension for an unspecified rules violation.  The sophomore from Detroit was Ohio State’s top nickel back before being forced to the sideline.  His return is timely as Meyer also announced Tuesday the season is over for Erick Smith, a sophomore safety who tore an ACL.  Smith is the second safety to suffer a season-ending injury, joining Cam Burrows, who earlier in the year went down with a foot injury.  Burrows had been Webb’s replacement at nickel. He was subsequently replaced by Marshon Lattimore.  The depth chart released for Ohio State’s upcoming home game against Minnesota does not include Webb but lists Lattimore as Garion Conley’s backup at once cornerback spot and true freshmen Denzel Ward backing up Eli Apple at the other.  Junior Jarrod Barnes and freshman Malik Hooker are listed as the backup safeties.  (H/T BuckeyeSports.com)
