Their job starts Tuesday night at 7 p.m., when they release the first round of their all-important rankings. The task is folly any year, a recipe for needless controversy, and never more than this week. They could slot about a dozen teams into the four sanctified spots, and no one could argue. They could omit any team, and no one could argue. And yet the only guarantee is there will be loads upon loads of argument. All of this is going to change, and change dramatically, in the coming weeks. Here is one shot to pick the four best teams in the country, based on what they have accomplished this season and this season only, plus all those teams waiting for them to slip. 1.
