After news broke this afternoon that Carlos Hyde would not be charged and a grainy video of the incident where both the victim and Hyde appear to lunge at each other without being able to see if contact was made, the only thing Buckeye Nation was waiting to hear is how Urban Meyer would react. This evening a statement was released from Head Coach Urban Meyer:
Carlos Hyde will be suspended for at least the first three games of the 2013 season for conduct not representative of this football program or this university. He will be required to fulfill additional obligations before he is allowed to play in a game.
The fact that Urban Meyer has said “at least the first three games” indicates it could be more but much of that probably has to do with the attitude and behavior of Hyde going forward.
Carlos Hyde posted for the first time to his twitter account since the incident became public. Hopefully he’s learned his lesson from all of this.
