The Buckeyes shot at a Big Ten Championship birth is very slim after today’s loss to Purdue in OT 26-23.
Braxton Miller tossed two touchdown passes including a TD pass on 4th down at the Purdue 13 to Jordan Hall that looked to give the Buckeyes a sure victory with :55 left. However, Drew Basil’s extra point was blocked at the line of scrimmage and after the Buckeyes intercepted a last-second Purdue pass, the game went into extra time.
Purdue quarterback Robert Marve scored the game winning touchdown from a yard out, while the Buckeyes settled for a field goal in OT.
The Buckeyes need to beat Penn State next week and hope the Lions lose again to Wisconsin, while the Badgers lose another game before that finale against Penn State for the Leaders Division race.
Purdue is a step closer to bowl eligibility after this win.
Luke Fickell’s chances of being the head coach next year are all but gone after this loss. The Buckeyes take on Penn State next week who fell to Nebraska today.
