Ohio State barely avoided a big upset, defeating Toledo, 27-22.
The Buckeyes were playing without seven suspended players.
Toledo took a 22-21 lead early in the third quarter on Adonis Thomas’s four-yard touchdown run. But Carlos Hyde’s two-yard touchdown run, his second of the game, which gave Ohio State the lead for good with 3:17 left in the third quarter.
The Buckeyes have not lost to another team from Ohio since 1921, when they fell to Oberlin, 7-6. They are 43-0-1 against other Ohio teams since then.
The Buckeyes take on troubled Miami next week which should prove even more difficult for the Buckeyes.
